Post Trauma Vision Syndrome
Any injury or trauma to the brain can impact vision in various ways. Patients with conditions like concussion, stroke, brain inflammation, or infection often experience symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, dizziness, anxiety, balance issues, and difficulty driving and navigating busy environments. They may also suffer from neck strain. Many describe feeling a “fire in the brain,” “short-circuits,” or a “traffic jam” in their head.
These patients typically visit eye doctors for routine eye exam and are told their vision is fine—they can see 20/20 and their eye health is normal. Patients end up seeing multiple specialists for each individual symptom, and while MRIs and blood tests may show normal results, they are still told they’re fine and nothing can be helpful and Patient just need to live with the symptoms. However, deep down, Patients know something is wrong and their concerns are not being properly addressed yet.
In simple terms, many of these symptoms may be caused by a disconnection between the vision system, brain, and body. These systems no longer function together as a coordinated team.
